Working with Media Shuttle

Use Media Shuttle to transfer large Reality Capture datasets. Explore how to install Signiant App, download files, and understand typical project file types.

Media Shuttle is a portal designed to assist with transferring large datasets like those included with your Reality Capture project files. Please check out the sections below to learn more about how to use this portal.

Project Delivery Email

We will include a link in our project delivery email, which will allow you to access the files for your project through the Media Shuttle portal. This link will provide access to your files for up to 90 days, or 7 days if they are progress files. If you need access to the files after that timeframe, you may reach out to our team for a new link to the project files.

Signiant App Installation

The Media Shuttle portal uses the Signiant App to speed up upload and download speeds up to three times typical speeds. The Signiant App is optional, but no acceleration will be achieved without the app. Please follow the link below to install the Signiant App for your computer:

https://help.signiant.com/media-shuttle/signiant-app/download-signiant-app

The webpage displays download options for Signiant App Version 2.0.0.503, offering links for Windows (.exe), macOS (.dmg), and Linux, along with version details and release dates.

For companies with IT restrictions, we recommend you get permissions to install this app for future downloads. This is because it makes the process much easier; however, you can read below for how to download files without the Signiant App.

When installing the software, you will accept the standard options to complete the installation, then ensure that you see the app running down in the Windows System tray:

A computer screen displays the expanded system tray with various application icons.

How to use Media Shuttle with the Signiant App

Please first install the Signiant App using the instructions above.

  1. When you first click on the link to download your project files, you will come to the Media Shuttle portal, which may look something like this:
A central overlay labeled 'GPRS' includes icons for 'Video Shuttle' and 'Autodesk.'
  1. When it prompts you to allow the opening of the Signiant App, please check the box, then click to Open Signiant App (you should only have to do this once).
"Open Signiant App?" pop up.
  1. Once this is complete, you will have access to the files for downloading:
The Signiant Media Shuttle interface displays the GPRS logo and a list of four downloadable files.
  1. Check or uncheck the boxes to choose which files to download, then click the Download button.
  2. If you cannot see the file extensions to figure out which file to download, you can hover over the file until the “tool tip” pops up with the full file name:
The Signiant Media Shuttle interface displays the GPRS logo and lists four downloadable files related to a sample project at 123 Main St.
  1. See the section below for a description of what types of files we typically include in a project delivery. You can also learn more about what software you should use to open the files.

How to use Media Shuttle without the Signiant App

  1. When you first click on the link to download your project files, you will come to the Media Shuttle portal, which will search for the Signiant App installation. It should look something like this:
A digital cityscape rendering displays tall buildings with architectural blueprints in the background. A central pop-up window labeled 'GPRS' features two buttons: 'Media Shuttle' and 'Continue.
  1. Once the webpage does not detect the Signiant app, it will prompt you to search again (Yes, Continue), “Download the app,” or “Transfer” without the Signiant App. Select “Transfer without Signiant App” to skip to the download page:
A webpage screenshot prompts the user to continue with the Signiant App, offering two options: 'YES, CONTINUE' and 'DOWNLOAD APP.' A highlighted link labeled 'Transfer without Signiant App' is emphasized with an arrow.
  1. Once you have selected to “Transfer files” without the app, you will see a screen like this:
The GPRS file download interface displays four files available for download: a PDF, RVT, RCS, and LGSX, all related to a sample project at 123 Main St. The interface features a dark theme with the GPRS logo at the top center, 'Media Shuttle' text at the bottom left, and a red 'Download' button at the bottom right.
  1. At this point, you can select the files you want to download and click the “Download” button to begin the process.

Typical Project File Types Available to Download

The default files part of most Reality Capture projects are as follows:

  • PDF - Contains a view of all the sheets in the set of drawings. This is the most accessible file as it requires no specialized software to view the work that is complete.
  • RVT - This is an Autodesk Revit file used by many Architectural, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) professionals.
  • RCS - This is a unified Point Cloud file used in Revit to view the data.
  • LGSX - This is a TruView file, which contains virtual walkthrough images and point cloud data. You may download a free TruView program to view this data and revisit every location where the scanner was placed, as well as take measurements from the 1st person view.
  • DWG - This is an AutoCAD file format used by many AEC professionals.
  • ZIP - This archive file contains multiple Images, DWGs, or other project-related files, zipped together to simplify downloads as a single file.E57 - This is a point cloud file that you can request for specific software needs and is only included if requested by our client.
